LibGuides Style Guide - Best Practices: Guide Types

This Guide contains best practices and guidelines for use in designing and publishing LibGuides at TMCC.

Guide Types

Be sure to assign a Guide Type to all of your Guides. This is helpful so that the system properly presents the Guides in the public interface:

  • General Purpose - use for Guides that do not fit in the other categories (such as Archives)
  • Course - Guide for a specific class or assignment. Please name the Guide using the class code followed by the instructor's last name (as in ANTH 201 - Williams)
  • Subject - Guide about a subject area (business, geography, etc.)
  • Topic - Guides covering general topics (Student Employee Orientation)
  • Internal - Guide for internal use, such as library statistics)
  • Template - Not used at this time
