Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology Great Basin Science Sample and Records Library
Reports on the geology, mineral resources, and mining history of each Nevada county are published in the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology Bulletin series. Each county report includes a county geologic map at a scale of 1:250,000, and an accompanying map showing all of the mining districts in the county.

Much of the history of Nevada is told in the history of its mining districts. Many of the districts have multiple names. The compilation, Mining Districts of Nevada, helps in finding the districts and tracking their name changes.
The Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology (NBMG) is a research and public service unit of the University of Nevada and is the state geological survey. NBMG is part of the Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering. NBMG scientists conduct research and publish reports on mineral resources, engineering geology, environmental geology, hydrogeology, and geologic mapping.
Publications are available in several numbered series, including: Bulletins, Field Studies Maps, Maps, Mineral Industry, Open-file Reports, Pamphlets, Reports, Special Publications, and Urban Maps. Online publications are available in educations, natural hazards, and Earth Science Week Field Trips.
NBMG plays an important role in educating the public on many geologic topics that directly affect Nevada through educational publications, teacher workshops, field trips and other outreach opportunities.
